Greetings Fellow Fisherman (and Fisherwomen),

Let me be the first to announce that the fishing on the opening day  of Red Snapper season last Sunday, June 01, 2008 was outstanding. We headed out late to Pinhall off the Pensacola coast, but it was already a bit crowded so we headed to a tanker and the even with a late start the fishing was great.

The limit this year is 2 Red Snapper per person. Not a lot, but we had a total of eight on board so we were able to make a decent haul. We caught the liimit, plus one Chicken Dolphin. As soon as hooks were dropped in the water, within minutes a snapper would strike. Even the four year old had success.

We were about five miles from the edge and saw all sorts of sea life as well, including a GIANT sea turtle.

Not that I caught anything, I was sick as dog unfortunatly. Very dissapointing but I hope to go out after some more of those lovely and delicious Chicken Dolphins later this summer. There is no limit on those and I will be better prepared.
